032909 - HOME BIBLE FELLOWSHIP LESSON
This Home Bible Fellowship Lesson can be used by you to help start bringing the Church into your own home! You start by having your own personal devotions, then bring your experience into a family Home Bible Fellowship and then open the doors of your home by starting a neighborhood Home Bible Fellowship.

FACING THE FEARS OF THE LION'S DEN!
"STAND UP FOR JESUS AND FACE YOUR CRITICS!
DON'T AVOID YOUR LION'S DEN!"

WORSHIP – He's our Father! He won't let you be tested beyond your limit! Let's worship Him together as our help and our shield!
1 Cor. 10:11-13 Now these things befall them by a way of a figure [as an example and a warning to us]; they were wrote to admonish and fit us for right action by good instruction, we in whose days the ages have reached their climax (their consummation and concluding period). [12] Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he fall [into sin]. [13] For no temptation (no trail regarded as enticing to sin, no matter how it comes or where it leads) has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trail has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.

WORD – It's not what other people think about our Christianity that bothers us, it's what they do to us! Persecution is frightening! It's the fear of it that keeps many of us from "coming out of the closet!" Let's learn to face the lion's den and watch God shut the mouths of our critics!

I. Be a light! Others need understanding about God!
Phil. 2:15,16 That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly} in the [dark] world.

A. Daniel was known for his excellent "God like" spirit
Dan. 5:12 Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, clarify riddles, and solve knotty problems were found in this same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.

B. In other words, Daniel had a "life giving" spirit that God could answer people's questions through!
Prvb. 17:27 He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding has a cool spirit.
Job 32:5-10 But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouths of these three men, he became angry. [6] Then Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite said, I am young, and you are aged; for that reason I was timid and restrained and dared not declare my opinion to you. [7] I said, Age should speak, and a multitude of years should teach wisdom [so let it be heard]. [8] But there is [a vital force] a spirit [of intelligence] in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives men understanding. [9] It is not the great [necessarily] who are wise, nor [always] the aged who understand justice. [10] So I say, Listen to me; I also will give you my opinion [about Job's situation] and my knowledge.

C. When you are Born Again your spirit becomes "God like" and receives the very life & nature of God!
John 3:5,6 Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God. [6] What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh [of the physical is physical]; and what is born of [from] the Spirit is spirit.

1 John 5:11-15 And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. [12] He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life. [13] I write this to you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, and eternal life. [14] And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness), which we have in Him, [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. [15] And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.

D. When your are Baptized in the Holy Spirit you will receive ability to help people through your "life giving" spirit!
Acts 1:5,8 For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with (placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit. [8] But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).

* DISCUSSION QUESTION: Did the Baptism in the Holy Spirit help you understand God's word? Did you share your understanding?

II. Be noticed! God wants to put you on a candlestick!
Matt. 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.

A. Daniel became noticed and became a leader!
Dan. 6:1-3 It pleased [King] Darius [successor to Belshazzar] to set over the kingdom 120 satraps [rulers, governors] who should be {in charge] throughout all the kingdom. [2] And over them 3 presidents ---of whom Daniel was one--that these satraps might give account to them and that the king should have no loss or damage. [3] Then this Daniel was distinguished above the presidents and the satraps because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

B. Be noticed! Find some people with questions!
1 Peter 3:15,16 But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully. [16] [And see to it that] your conscience is entirely clear (unimpaired) , so that, when you are falsely accused as evildoers, those who threaten you abusively and revile your right behavior in Christ may come to be ashamed [of slandering your good lives].

C. Be noticed! Of course people will be envious!
Dan. 6:4-7 Then the presidents and satraps sought to find occasion [to bring accusation] against Daniel concerning the kingdom, but they could find no occasion or fault, for he was faithful, nor was there any error or fault found in him. [5] Then said these men; "We shall not find any occasion [to bring accusation] against this Daniel except we find it against him concerning the law of his God." [6] Then these presidents and satraps [rulers] came [tumultuously] together to the king and said to him, "King Darius, live forever!" [7] All the presidents of the kingdom, the deputies and the satraps [rulers], the counselors and the governors, have consulted and agreed that the king should establish a royal statute and make a firm decree that whoever shall ask a petition of any god or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions."

D. Be noticed! Keep bringing church home with you!
Dan. 6:10-11 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house, and his windows being open in his chamber toward JerUSAlem, he got down upon his knees 3 times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously. [11] Then these men came thronging [by agreement] and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

* DISCUSSION QUESTION: Why does Satan use persecution and peer pressure against Christians? Has it worked against you?

III. Face your lion's den of peer pressure! Watch God move!
Dan. 6:16 Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king said to Daniel, May your God, Whom you are serving continually, deliver you!

A. Don't be shocked when people come against you!
1Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you. [13] But insofar as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, rejoice, so that when His glory [full of radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may also rejoice with triumph [exultantly] . [14] If you are censured and suffer abuse [because you bear] the name of Christ, blessed [are you - happy, fortunate, to be envied, with life-joy, and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of your outward condition], because the Spirit of glory, the Spirit of God, is resting upon you. On their part, He is blasphemed, but on your part, He is glorified.

B. God will always have someone check on you!
Dan. 6:18-20 Then the king went to his palace and passed the night fasting, neither were instruments of music or dancing girls brought before him; and his sleep fled from him. [19] Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions. [20] And when he came to the den and to Daniel, he cried out in a voice of anguish. The king said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is your God, Whom you serve continually, able to deliver you from the lions.

C. You'll not be hurt! You didn't do anything wrong!
Dan. 6:22-23 My God has sent His angel and has shut the lions' mouths so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent and blameless before you, O king, [as you very well know] I have done no harm or wrong. [23] Then the king was exceedingly glad and commanded that Daniel should be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no hurt of any kind was found on him because he believed in (relied on, adhered to, and trusted in) his God.

D. Your critics will be silenced! Words will never hurt you!
Dan. 6:24 And the king commanded, and those men who had accused Daniel were brought and cast into the den of lions, they, their children, and their wives; and before they ever reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and had broken their bones in pieces.

E. God will get the glory through it all & you'll prosper!
Dan. 6:25-28 Then King Darius wrote to all peoples, nations, and languages [in his realm] that dwelt in all the earth; May peace be multiplied to you! [26] I make a decree that in all my royal dominion men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, enduring and steadfast forever, and His kingdom shall not be destroyed and His dominion shall be even to the end [of the world]. [27] He is a Savior and Deliverer, and He works signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth - He Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. [28] So this [man] Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

WORK OF GOD: Pray for your critics! Take a new stand for the gospel! Pray that a "fresh move" of the Holy Spirit come upon your life in Jesus!
